Afro Rock, Volume One is a fairly strong selection, or check out http://www.retroafric.com.
Thomas Mapfumo's Rise Up from last year is pretty damn amazing. My favorite record of 06 in 07.
Rokia Traoré's record Boxmboi is pretty fabulous.
The Toumani Diabate's Symmetric Orchestra record from last year.
These are more like "world" music, with all the white-guilt seriousness that implies, than afropop per se, but worth checking out.
On a different note, you should check out those Sublime Frequencies records. Mind-bending.
