Some things change, some things stay the same. We'll see...

Politics making me happy is unheard of. Thanks for the memories Don.

Finished a month long of Woody Allen films with the movie watching gents. Next up, got this in my hip pocket, film noir. What are some of your favorites in that genre, if you care to?

From Thomas A Clark's "Lullaby"

Thanks Sam Ward!

This is a pretty good start for noir. But my favorites are The Big Combo, The Big Heat, The Big Steal, The Blue Dahlia, Force of Evil, On Dangerous Ground (with Ida Lupino), Act of Violence and others I can't quite recall. For a noirish English film try Hell is a City.

Yeah, Fante is all of that.

Glad to see mention of Joseph Lewis films: Gun Crazy and The Big Combo. Philip Yordan's script in The Big Combo is razor sharp, filled with subtle and not so subtle innuendo, and John Alton's cinematography is stunning. Also Sam Fuller! Another favorite, his autobiography is a great read. What a life. Sterling Hayden. Ida Lupino. Gloria Grahame. Force of Evil, Scorcese said in an interview that the two character in his Mean Streets were based on the brother relationship in this movie. John Garfield, that's a sad story. In a Lonely Place is classic.

The Postman Always Rings Twice (both versions).

After Dark, My Sweet.

Double Indemnity (look for Barbara Stanwyck and you have a good shot at noir).

I'll Sleep When I'm Dead.

Sin City (maybe). Dark City (maybe).

A very underviewed movie starring Debbie Harry called Union City (Maybe)

Blue Velvet. Twin Peaks.

The Grifters.

Body Heat.

Miller's Crossing, Blood Simple, Fargo (Dakota noir)

Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction.

And sort of Veronica Mars.
