Olde English Review

Joseph Massey's review of Olde English is reminiscent of Paul Beatty's guide to malt liquors, but goes further in rendering the particular qualities which distinguish English. Dogfish Head has a Liquor de Malt that I haven't tasted yet. It looks interesting, but the hand stamped brown paper bag sounds a little precious.

Let it be known that it was I, Anthony Robinson, unrepentant Malt Liquor Connoisseur, who introduced Joe Massey to the peculiar delights of OE.

Somehow I'm not surprised, and I mean that in the best way. Is OE your fav of this genre?

OE is the best of this genre, yes. Most malt liquor is patently undrinkable. OE, when fresh, is actually quite nice for what it is. It tastes a bit like Corona.

That's my sense. I went back for a nostalgic Colt 45 a few years ago and couldn't finish it, awful. My favorite blonde-ish beer at the moment is Brooklyn Pilsner. It is top notch, a full profile. Nearly all Brooklyn's beers are notable.

Deschutes doesn't make a bad beer. Neither does Lagunitas.
